Journey: Healing Together exists to foster connections and build equity among diverse affinity groups; we do this to unite communities in collective healing. We are currently establishing roots in the heart of downtown Erie to grow and fulfill our purpose of creating healing spaces to New Majority communities.
About us
Journey: Healing Together (EST: 2022) has grown out of the shockwaves of political unrest, the persistent COVID pandemic, inflation and continued unrest shaking the foundations of our community. J:HT is a sibling nonprofit organization of Journey to a Trauma Informed Life, LLC (EST: 2019) that will nurture connectedness among diverse groups, organizations, agencies, and universities to foster restoration and healing throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Our Purpose
Since early 2020, the impact of political, social, and racially charged tragedies – in addition to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic – has led our community, and others, to their breaking point. Mental health providers have strained to meet the need of their overflowing referrals, causing healers and those seeking healing to struggle. Unfortunately, as with many struggles, historically under served groups (including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, New Americans, differently abled individuals, those in rural communities) have been disproportionately impacted. This led us to both our vision and our mission.

We envision united communities that have worked to restore equity, discover their own uniqueness, and evolve into empowered agents of change.

At Journey: Healing Together, folks that are traditionally under-represented are empowered to build unique strengths and heal from systemic and generational wounds. The model of J:HT is to unite communities, restore trust, discover new perspectives, and transform society.

In collaboration with Erie Arts & Culture and some wonderfully talented artists, we are seeking partners and sponsors for our exciting new programs through the Community Impact Mosaic Project. Whether you’re looking to participate in creating one of our 10 mosaic panels, contributing to our building improvement fund, or sponsoring a particular project – LGBTQ+ youth programming, mentoring New Majority wellness providers, or helping neighbors heal through Erie’s Journey to Wellness – everyone can contribute in some way. The decision to seek mental health treatment is not easy – it takes courage. When Erie county residents pick up the phone and make a commitment to wellness, the most discouraging thing to be met with is a long wait list. It’s no secret that the demand for mental health services is quickly outpacing the supply, and the Erie community is no exception. As we continue to recover from the psychological and health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now more important than ever that Erie residents have easy access to high-quality mental health services, and in 2023, United Way of Erie and The Erie Community Foundation are committed to providing just that. These organizations have demonstrated their passion for supporting the Erie community many times over. Their generosity is now helping reduce wait times for mental health treatment, in the form of the Erie Journey to Wellness Program, provided by Journey: Healing Together.
